My name is Korey Samuelson. Pleased to meet you. I started Stoic Strength with one purpose in mind – to teach the skills of self-control in the context of training for physical strength and fitness. Self-control is your power. It is the only power you have. It is the only power you need.
When exercising you are not training your body you are training your mind. Your body is being conditioned, true enough. Your body naturally and inevitably adapts when introduced to new conditions such as strenuous exercise, improved nutrition, and adequate recovery. When intelligently and progressively applied, you will get stronger, healthier, fitter, and just plain feel better and look better.
However, the real training is working through the resistance of your own limiting beliefs, self-doubts, and fears in acquiring the habits of health and fitness. Your challenge is a mental one. It’s always been a mental challenge. Your mind learns, through exercise, to deal with resistance and become comfortable with the unfamiliar and challenging. Regularly embracing the discomfort of resistance develops your physical strength but, more importantly, it develops your mental strength. When you are mentally stronger life becomes easier.
Train your mind; condition your body; master your life.
By applying the principles of fitness and strength development from the perspective of training the mind your goals are obtained faster, more assuredly, with an increase in self-control and self-mastery. You will have far longer lasting and more profound results both in the gym and outside the gym. Your experiences in the gym become strength training for a stronger life!
Whatever your health and fitness challenges you do have the power to change your experience.
The directives of Stoic Strength are:
- To provide simple, clear instruction in a highly efficient exercise protocol we call Systematic Variability Training (SVT). You will learn to the point at which you understand the principles, methodologies, and techniques needed to create your success. Hiring a trainer then will be a choice, not a necessity.
- To coach you in the mental skills of Stoic Strength. These are the skills that improve your self-control. Self-control is the power to change your life in the pursuit of excellence in and out of the gym.
- To help you surmount any mental obstacles and challenges as they become apparent during your training. Using TWD Hypnosis and principles of effective coaching and mind training, we (i.e. you and I) will change your self-identity. When there is a change in self-identity, everything changes naturally as a result.
